About the position

The College of Dentistry at The Ohio State University is seeking applications for tenure track faculty positions at the rank of assistant/associate professor in the Division of Restorative and Prosthetic Dentistry. The primary responsibility for this position will be directing and supporting didactic and clinical courses in the predoctoral restorative dentistry curricula. Other duties include contributing to the overall mission of the division, participating in university and college governance, supporting the college’s continuing education programs, and practicing in the college’s affiliated contemporary intramural Dental Faculty Practice. Performance Objectives include promoting evidence-based teaching skills in an education setting, proficiency in prosthodontics, and a strong track record of scholarly activity. Candidates are expected to demonstrate a passion for student education, apply advanced technology to enhance teaching and learning, and participate in teaching activities consistent with division goals.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and support didactic and clinical courses in the predoctoral restorative dentistry curricula.
  • Contribute to the overall mission of the division.
  • Participate in university and college governance.
  • Support the college’s continuing education programs.
  • Practice in the college’s affiliated contemporary intramural Dental Faculty Practice.
  • Promote evidence-based teaching skills.
  • Demonstrate effective teaching skills through student and peer reviews.
  • Serve as course director, including preparation and distribution of course materials.
  • Support a model for dental education that includes innovative technologies and evidence-based dentistry.
  • Provide interdisciplinary mentoring to students.
  • Demonstrate collaboration between college divisions.
  • Participate in college and/or university committees.
  • Engage in professional organizations and activities outside of the university.

Requirements

  • Candidates must have a DDS/DMD degree or equivalent degree.
  • Must have a certificate of advanced education in prosthodontics from a CODA-accredited program.
  • Must be eligible for a regular or limited teaching license by the Ohio State Dental Board.

Nice-to-haves

  • Training in dental materials, cariology, digital technology.
  • An MS, PhD, EdD, or other advanced degree.
