About The Position

The University of Nevada, Reno, School of Public Health is recruiting for an Environmental Health Scientist at the Associate Professor level for a state-funded, tenure-track faculty position. The School is planning to expand into a building that will include renovated laboratories for public health research and instruction, and the candidate will help to develop and oversee this laboratory space. The ideal candidate will have a track record of funded research in an area of high relevance to public health, such as environmental surveillance and monitoring or human biomarker studies.

Requirements

  • An earned doctorate in environmental health sciences, environmental chemistry, analytical chemistry, environmental sciences, or a closely related field.
  • Strong record of sustained research productivity, including interdisciplinary public health collaborations.
  • Experience managing and overseeing a research laboratory.
  • Demonstrated ability or potential to teach graduate and undergraduate students.
  • Experience mentoring early career laboratory scientists.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and mentor students at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including supervising thesis and dissertation research in environmental health sciences.
  • Develop and sustain an independent, externally funded research program in environmental and/or occupational health, with an emphasis on exposure assessment.
  • Utilize and oversee laboratory resources to support exposure science, ensuring that analytical and monitoring methods advance public health research and student training.
  • Contribute to interdisciplinary collaborations within the School and across the University.
  • Engage in service and leadership within the School, University, and professional community.
