About The Position

The School of Engineering at the University of Missouri - Saint Louis (UMSL), invites applications and nominations for a Professor and Program Coordinator of Civil Engineering. Appointment at the rank of Associate Professor is expected with the granting of tenure based on an evaluation of the applicant's record. Appointment at the rank of Professor with tenure will be considered for exceptional applicants. UMSL is seeking program coordinators who are visionary and collaborative, student-focused, and research leaders. Primary responsibilities of each coordinator include student recruitment and retention; student success initiatives; faculty assignments and workload; faculty evaluation; and participation in the reappointment, promotion and tenure; curriculum development; program assessment and accreditation; development of research programs; faculty professional development; and coordination and oversight of classroom and laboratory usage. Each coordinator will report to the Founding Director and will play a role on all future hires within their academic unit. As a tenured or tenure-track faculty member in the School of Engineering, the successful candidate will have and maintain a sustainable record of research and scholarship, teaching excellence, and experience in personnel development, project management, and strategic planning. Faculty in the school will have an opportunity for interdisciplinary collaborations broadly across the university, industries, and AMICSTL, the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Center St. Louis.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field
  • Record of scholarship and securing external funding from various agencies including industries
  • Strong communication skills
