The Department of Geography and Environmental Sustainability at the State University of New York at Oneonta invites applications for an accelerated tenure-track Associate Professor beginning Fall 2026. Candidates with prior chair experience or significant leadership experience are strongly desired. The successful candidate will be expected to provide departmental leadership and, pending departmental approval, assume the role of department chair. Expectations also include, but are not limited to, teaching, research, student advisement, college service, and continuing professional development. The Department of Geography and Environmental Sustainability is home to majors in Geography and Environmental Sustainability and seeks to enhance its expertise in Environmental Health and Safety. The Department's faculty are highly collegial and deeply engaged as teachers, scholars, and mentors, fostering a collaborative and dynamic learning environment. The Department is part of the School of Sciences, which includes 10 academic departments and more than 2,300 students across 20 programs, offering strong opportunities for engagement and professional growth.
