About The Position

The Department of Bioengineering in the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) invites applications for an Associate Professor tenure-system faculty position in Bioengineering and/or Biomedical Engineering within the Health Innovations research thrust. The department seeks candidates with research expertise in Neural Engineering. Candidates from related disciplines, such as Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Materials Science, Physics, or Mathematics, whose research is relevant to Bio/Biomedical Engineering, may be considered. Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate courses in the core biomedical engineering curriculum and in the candidate's specialization. In addition to teaching, an active research program and service in the UT Dallas and/or professional community is expected. The position commences for the fall 2026 semester.

Requirements

  • A PhD or equivalent in Bioengineering/Biomedical Engineering or a related field is required prior to employment
  • A track record of productive and externally-funded research
  • Ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, engaging, and dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated ability to produce research and scholarly or creative achievements that enhance the program and the discipline
  • Ability to deliver high quality teaching using evidence-based practices to effectively engage students from a range of backgrounds and experiences

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and teach undergraduate and/or graduate classes
  • Contribute assessment information and data as requested
  • Mentor and/or advise undergraduate and/or graduate students

  • Continue to expand professional influence in the academic discipline through research and/or publication
  • Engage in service within the academic unit, the university, and the profession as appropriate based on teaching and research constraints
  • Teach three (3) classes each academic year
