About The Position

The Department of Chemical, Biological, and Materials Engineering at the University of South Florida invites applications for a position at the rank of Associate Professor (tenured/tenure-earning). The anticipated start date is August 2026 or thereafter. An earned Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution by the start of employment is required. Candidates must have: (1) a demonstrated excellence in scholarly research and publications, (2) a demonstrated record of an externally funded active research program, and (3) a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students from broad backgrounds in engineering. Applicants with research interests in all areas of chemical engineering are encouraged to apply. The department currently has 16 full-time faculty, 1 Assistant Professor of Instruction, and 4 emeriti faculty. The department offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in chemical engineering and an M.S. in Materials Science and Engineering. In addition to strong collaborations with colleagues from across the College of Engineering, faculty members in the department enjoy collaborations with several research centers on campus (e.g., the Clean Energy Research Center, the Institute of Applied Engineering, and the Nanotechnology Research and Education Center). Faculty members in the department also have collaborations with the extensive medical enterprise at USF including the USF Morsani College of Medicine, H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute (an NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center), the Center for Assistive Rehabilitation Robotics and Technologies, the USF Heart Institute, and the USF Health Byrd Alzheimer's Institute. Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Applicants must meet all university criteria for appointment to the rank of Associate Professor
  • Demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service.
  • Applicants must have an outstanding record of scholarly publications in refereed and other professional journals.

  • Significant record of scholarship in a department with undergraduate and graduate degree programs in Chemical Engineering.
  • Post-doctoral experience or other similar post-graduate experience
