Description Clinical Service Expectations: Your appointment will include the following responsibilities: o Serve as a surgeon in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery in the Department of Surgery, maintaining an active inpatient and outpatient practice at ESJH with a focus on robotic cardiac surgery, robotic CABG, and robotic mitral surgery.o Assume primary call coverage responsibilities for adult cardiac surgery with the section at ESJH and with Emory Healthcare.o Clinical responsibilities, assigned at the discretion of the Section Chief, Division Chief, or Department Chair:o Call coverage will be assigned as needed and no more frequent than one night in three.o Participate in ongoing efforts to provide outstanding clinical care; maintain and improve quality and patient safety; enhance access to and management of clinical trials; and develop and refine innovative strategies within the field of cardiothoracic surgery.o Participate in committees, peer review activities, and Morbidity and Mortality (M&M) case conferences; manage patient workups and procedures in accordance with departmental guidelines; and adopt tools and technologies deemed integral to the practice of cardiac surgery. o Meet with the Division Chief twice annually to formally review progress and performance.Responsibilities subject to change at the discretion of the Chief of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery or Chair of the Department of Surgery to address needs and opportunities. Teaching ExpectationsIn keeping with the School of Medicine Guidelines for Appointment, Promotion and Tenure, you will be expected to participate in teaching, which may include occasional lectures, small group and bedside teaching, preceptorship, and mentorship, and active involvement in resident and fellow education. Scholarship/Research ExpectationsIn keeping with the School of Medicine Guidelines for Appointment, Promotion and Tenure, you are expected to participate in scholarship, which may include authorship of manuscripts, participation in research studies, abstract presentations, professional blogs, engagement in professional societies, and other scholarly activities NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location.
