About The Position

We are seeking highly skilled and experienced PhD-level statisticians to join the newly established Office of Clinical Research Statistics supporting Northwell’s enterprise-wide clinical research infrastructure. The successful candidate provides strategic guidance and expertise in statistical and health data science methodologies for research design and analysis, with a focus on clinical research projects. Works collaboratively with other investigators, clinicians, and scientists in facilitating research. Provides strategic guidance and expertise in statistical and health data science methodologies for research design and analysis, with a focus on clinical research projects. Works collaboratively with other investigators, clinicians, and scientists in facilitating research and informing strategies for external funding.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in Statistics, Biostatistics or a closely related field, required.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience and 2+ years of leadership/ management experience, required. (relevant experience during PhD training, postdoctoral work, or equivalent research roles will be considered)
  • Strong programming skills in statistical software (e.g., R, Python) , required.

Nice To Haves

  • A strong record of scholarly achievement, including publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at academic conferences.
  • A proven track record of participating in external research funding (Co-I or PI), with a focus on clinical research experience, preferred.
  • Mentorship experience.
  • Strong collaboration and effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Applies statistical and health data science methods to research projects, with a focus on externally funded research projects.
  • Provides strategic direction in research protocol development, biostatistics/statistics, database design/maintenance, and manuscript development/review process.
  • Leads and/or supports applications for grant funding and/or patents as appropriate.
  • Responsible for the statistical analysis of research data.
  • Submits manuscripts and abstracts for publication/presentation.
  • Participates in departmental and institutional committees and activities.
  • Oversees and provides technical guidance to statistical research staff.
  • Provides education and training in statistical methods and applications, as needed.
  • Responsible for all other activities, clinical and administrative, as appropriate.
  • Performs related duties as required.
