About The Position

Flex is seeking an Associate Operations Supervisor for the 2nd Shift, located in Austin, TX. This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced manufacturing supervisor who will be responsible for shift-level performance across safety, quality, delivery, and readiness within a Surface Mount Technology (SMT) PCB assembly environment. The successful candidate will lead directly from the production floor, aligning people, process, and equipment to ensure stable, predictable operations. This role requires decisiveness, presence, and follow-through to identify issues early, respond quickly, and ensure the team is always prepared to execute.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 3+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven ability to lead teams and deliver operational results
  • Strong communication skills and a visible floor presence
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and execution discipline

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in SMT manufacturing (screen printing, pick-and-place, reflow, AOI)
  • Working knowledge of SMT material preparation and equipment setup
  • Familiarity with key manufacturing metrics such as schedule attainment, FPY, and downtime
  • Experience working in Lean or continuous improvement environments

Responsibilities

  • Own shift performance and deliver production schedules
  • Maintain strong quality results, including first pass yield and variation control
  • Drive rapid, structured response to equipment or process disruptions
  • Identify production gaps early and resolve them through disciplined problem solving
  • Ensure actions are closed with clear ownership and follow-through
  • Confirm line readiness for changeovers, including material verification and kitting
  • Enforce operating standards, safety requirements, and execution discipline
  • Lead from the production floor with a visible, engaged leadership presence
  • Set clear expectations and address performance directly and respectfully
  • Coach and develop operators, line leads, and support personnel
  • Build a culture of accountability, respect, and operational excellence
  • Reinforce safe behaviors and ensure compliance with all EHS standards
  • Partner with ESC/Maintenance on downtime and equipment recovery
  • Work with Methods Engineering to ensure accurate setups and process readiness
  • Collaborate with Process Engineering on defect trends, containment, and root cause analysis
  • Share information openly, escalate proactively, and collaborate without blame
  • Deliver clear, structured shift handover reports
  • Document issues, actions taken, risks, and ownership
  • Ensure the next shift starts aligned, prepared, and ready to execute
  • Plan and follow up on action items, space planning, and workshop participation
  • Support interviewing, training implementation, and coaching/counseling for improved performance
  • Engage in staff meetings and internal communications with peers, staff, and partner departments
  • Safeguard company assets and maintain compliance with policies and procedures
  • Apply LEAN concepts where possible to improve flow and reduce waste
  • Direct daily department activities to meet production goals
  • Review material, equipment, and manpower resource requirements; support maintenance programs for critical equipment
  • Generate productivity reports and other operations metrics
