About the position

As an Associate Product Manager (APM) in an internal tooling team, you will play a pivotal role in improving the efficiency, productivity and satisfaction of stakeholders by developing and managing tools used within the organization. While traditional product managers cater to external customers, an APM in internal tooling serves as the conduit between members of the organization (internal teams) and the product development teams responsible for creating, maintaining and optimizing these tools that are used by internal teams. You will work closely with the Group Product Manager (GPM) to translate high level strategy into actionable tasks, focusing on tools and features that contribute to the broader vision.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal teams to understand their workflows, pain points and tool requirements
  • Conceptualize, prioritize, and write high quality user stories and product requirements
  • Develop, implement and optimize internal tools that deliver value to users and align with organizations goals
  • Define, monitor and measure metrics and KPIs to facilitate data-driven decision making
  • Analyze existing processes and workflows to recommend improvements to reduce bottlenecks
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders, gain support for new features, and manage expectations
  • Resolve operational issues within scope and escalate larger problems to the GPM as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, HCI or other applicable degree is preferred; may substitute applicable work experience with Business Analyst or Product Management competencies and subject matter expertise
  • Experience working in an agile environment and direct experience working with engineering teams
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to understand technical requirements and data, including experience utilizing data analytics, SQL, and/or BI (business intelligence) to drive decisions
  • Foundational knowledge of APIs, system integration and data pipelines (familiarity with Python for scripting, data analysis of automation is preferred)
  • Understanding of internal tooling platforms (e.g. JIRA, Confluence, Retool)
  • Knowledgeable about Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system integrations
  • Experience working on internal systems, including identifying process improvements, optimizing workflows, and enhancing internal tools for operational efficiency

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in product management or business analysis
