About The Position

CNN’s Digital Video Production team creates original video content for all CNN platforms, including our social video accounts. We write, produce and edit video, from raw news moments to daily news packages. We work collaboratively across the organization to cover breaking news, trending topics, and important issues quickly and accurately. From mass shootings to immigration to the natural disasters, we tell stories with the aim of informing and engaging the largest global digital audience in news today. We are looking for a full-time Associate Producer for our weekend evening shift. The ideal candidate is a video-first storyteller with a flexible attitude and a creative mind. Associate Producers can learn from some of the industry’s best digital storytellers and work with colleagues from across CNN Digital’s operations around the world. This Associate Producer will work with a team to cover domestic and international breaking news and trending topics. Associate producers monitor the news cycle, pitch story ideas, gather elements, do research, write scripts, and edit video in both 16x9 and vertical formats independently.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in journalism
• 2+ years experience in a professional digital news media environment
• Ability to edit news packages independently in Adobe Premiere
• Strong interest in news
• Familiarity with digital video and social media platforms
• Strong writing, communication and interpersonal skills
• Comfortable with working in a fast, high-pressure environment
• Work schedule flexibility, including AM, PM, weekend and holiday shifts

Responsibilities

• Researching, writing scripts and editing video for all digital platforms
• Monitoring breaking news, live events and search/social trends
• Taking part in creative brainstorming and generating story ideas
• Experimenting with new video formats
• Gathering elements including photos and historical footage
• Assisting reporters and producers with story research and newsgathering
• Working with teams across the company to create compelling video stories
• Completing production workflows within CNN’s content management systems
