Preference is for candidates to join our Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles New York or Washington, DC office, however we will consider candidates interested in other US office locations. Requirements

  • 4-6 years of practical data privacy counseling experience.
  • Experience providing practical advice and implementing state privacy laws (such as CCPA, WA MHMD, and other equivalent state privacy laws).
  • Experience with adtech and cookies/online trackers, including TCPA, CANSPAM, DAA/NAI/IAB self-regulatory rules.
  • Experience with the financial and health/life sciences sectors, including GLBA, CalFIPA, FCRA, insurance privacy, FTC/CFPB rules, HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and state health privacy laws.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Self-starter with the ability to prioritize workload with competing demands.
  • Good judgment and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Proven ability to independently manage matters or segments of large/complex matters.
  • Candidates with large law firm experience only (boutique specialists may be considered).
  • Must be admitted to practice in the jurisdiction in which you are applying.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Information Privacy Professionals (CIPP-US, CIPT, CIPM) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on a range of US-focused privacy and other 'data'-related compliance counseling.
  • Lead projects and interface directly with clients.
  • Conduct compliance gap assessments.
  • Develop comprehensive compliance programs.
  • Draft policies, procedures, and guidance including privacy policies, business-facing guidance, DSR procedures, incident response plans, contracting templates, and playbooks.
  • Provide advice on data sale/sharing/targeted advertising.
  • Assist clients with determining priorities, risks, and implementation of compliance programs.
  • Work one-on-one with supervising partners and occasionally supervise paralegals and junior lawyers.
