About The Position

The Associate Principal Scientist, Health Economics at Merck Sharp & Dohme is responsible for the strategic development and application of high-quality economic models and tools to generate business insights and demonstrate the value of the company's products to stakeholders. This role involves leading value evidence teams, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and supporting local market access through health economics and outcomes research (HEOR).

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree or master's degree in Health Economics, Biostatistics, Actuarial Sciences, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in HEOR in the pharmaceutical industry or relevant organizations.
  • Expertise in conceptualization, design, development, and dissemination of health economic analyses.
  • Understanding of the market access environment and challenges in key markets (e.g., US, Canada, UK, EU4, China, Japan).
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong track record of innovative HTA submissions and development of health economic resources.
  • Experience in cardiovascular/metabolic diseases, antiviral therapies, immunology, neuroscience, and/or ophthalmology.
  • Experience in evidence generation, synthesis, and analysis, such as real-world studies and meta-analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic insights into the development and refinement of the integrated value evidence strategy and evidence generation from the perspective of health economics.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality global health economic analyses and tools to provide critical business insights and demonstrate product value.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to conduct evidence generation and synthesis studies for economic models.
  • Adapt and train global health economic resources for regional/local HEOR teams to support HTA submissions and market access activities.
  • Disseminate health economic data through presentations at congresses and publications in scientific journals.
