The Associate Principal, Analytics role at Amazon Advertising focuses on developing actionable insights to enhance marketing decision-making for advertisers. This position is part of the Brand Media Insights (BMI) team, which analyzes advertising campaign performance and provides recommendations to improve future marketing strategies. The role requires building strong relationships with clients and leveraging advanced analytical techniques to address their needs proactively.

  • Independently develop advanced analyses and create templates for colleagues to leverage for other brands.
  • Conduct analyses leveraging previously untapped datasets.
  • Expand the breadth of marketing science topics that the BMI team provides insights on.
  • Represent Amazon Advertising in meetings with advertisers and guide their leaders on advertising and marketing strategies.
  • Develop relationships with senior marketing decision makers and establish oneself as a go-to expert in at least one advanced analytical area of advertising.
  • Proactively address advertisers' needs by identifying issues and opportunities before they are recognized by the advertiser.
  • Own an internal program that enhances the team's capabilities or A&I's capabilities.
  • Write documents with recommendations that influence how partner teams with Amazon Advertising operate, such as Account Management, Sales, or Product.
  • Master Amazon proprietary tools and metrics to solve advertisers' business questions.
  • Bachelor's degree plus 10+ years' experience in client-facing data analysis roles.
  • 5+ years of consulting experience with a major consulting firm or 5+ years of advertising experience with a top advertiser (agency or client side).
  • Ability to translate technical aspects of analysis and metrics into actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent data-driven storytelling skills with the ability to create and deliver compelling presentations to high-level stakeholders.
  • Advanced in SQL with the ability to write complex queries from scratch, creating appropriate joins, extracting and manipulating data, and formatting fields.
  • Fluency with an advanced analytical tool (Python or R) for running advanced statistical modeling and analysis.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Experience with advertising publishers and marketing/creative agencies.
  • MBA, Master's or Doctoral degree in Economics, Marketing, Statistics, Advertising, or Business/Digital media planning experience.
  • Experience in a performance advertising role managing significant complexity and scaling challenges.
