About The Position

The Associate Portfolio Manager – Alternative Joining provides leadership in the formulation of product line strategy and growth programs to enhance sales growth and profitability. The Associate Product Manager must have a strong knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, oil and gas, and mining customers, and understand their needs, as well as a thorough understanding of the dynamics of selling these products in the marketplace. The incumbent will own the overall product strategy, as well as be responsible for the team’s efforts in maximizing sales, profitability and continuing ASC Engineered Solutions world-class customer satisfaction and relations. The position will be primarily focused on grooved and press product lines. Additionally, the ideal candidate has the proven ability to drive innovation from ideation through the new product development process, identify product adjacencies, cost savings initiatives & product rationalization opportunities. The successful candidate will have ambition, drive, strong technical knowledge, and experience in the product management arena. A highly entrepreneurial spirit and sense of urgency with a passion for the industry is desirable, along with a drive to grow both personally and professionally.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in the alternative joining products industry
  • Mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, oil and gas, and mining market knowledge
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Proficiency with MS Office products, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
  • Experience with or aptitude to understand financial analysis and accounting principles
  • Aptitude and affinity for technical product details, including the ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals and drawings.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, think analytically, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to communicate clearly with team, conduct presentations, and be flexible and organized
  • Ability to work and influence cross-functionally across multiple teams

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute product line strategies in support of ASC Engineered Solutions innovation, globalization and end market initiatives driving the alternative joining products business as well as continuously seeking to expand the product lines as driven by marketplace needs and voice-of-customer interactions.
  • Drive new product development through the ideation process. This includes project management, product pipeline development (Multi-Generation Product Planning), and management of the pipeline throughout the business (Product Line Roadmap Management).
  • Develop, implement, and refine the go-to-market strategies for the assigned product line. Implement specific programs by product family that will increase field sales productivity, profitability, and market share including marketing campaigns and tools, channel expansion, and sales force and channel training programs.
  • Proactively engage with the commercial sales organization to define unmet needs, understand emerging product opportunities, drive innovation, and implement go to market strategies.
  • Work with the training group to create effective training tools and materials, and participate in formal and informal training sessions with sales and support personnel, customers, specifying contractors, etc.
  • Work with the marketing communications team to support downstream marketing efforts, trade shows, new product launches and sales promotions.
  • Collaborate with and engage the engineering team to drive flawless execution of new product initiatives, cost savings programs and product rationalization opportunities.
  • Monitor and influence service and inventory levels to achieve customer delivery expectations, by actively connecting cross-functionally to understand market trends and develop S&OP product line forecast.
  • Provide sales and customer product line support as needed.
  • Perform any and all other duties and initiatives assigned with the same drive, determination and dedication to excellence.
  • Engage with industry associations to understand industry dynamics and drive business objectives.
