About The Position

What is the opportunity? As an Associate Portfolio Advisor, you will join the US Equities team within RBC’s Portfolio Advisory Group. The Portfolio Advisory Group’s broader mandate is to enable our Wealth Management Advisors to consistently deliver investment solutions to their clients with the highest level of competency and confidence by through investment advice, portfolio management, and thought leadership. The US Equities team manages six Guided Portfolios across key public equity investment factors such as dividend, growth, core, value, and international and is also a significant service and support touchpoint for Advisors’ book of business invested in public equity. As an Associate Portfolio Advisor, you will be responsible for providing general analytical support to the team and RBC’s Wealth Management Advisors. Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in finance, business, or a related field of study
  • Prior financial services industry experience
  • Demonstrated (internships, career history, school club participation, etc.) interest and curiosity in financial markets and desire to build a career in investment management
  • Demonstrated investment knowledge of capital markets and the global economy
  • Solid financial analytical skills
  • Demonstrated competence using Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, written and presentation skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong ability to interact with all levels of staff; must be able to maintain relationships that will relate to the overall success of the established firm goals
  • Series 7, 63 or 66, or ability to obtain within 180 days

Nice To Haves

  • On track to a CFA designation
  • Ability to understand the Financial Advisor’s business and identify themes and issues that have an impact on their business
  • Experience working as part of a geographically diverse team
  • Working knowledge of analytical and market research tools including FactSet and Bloomberg

Responsibilities

  • Create the daily morning call (7:45 am) slides from provided team content and contributions
  • Compile the morning call report summarizing written content and distribute to RBC Wealth Management Advisors
  • Consistently deliver high quality and proactive service for Advisors
  • Provide timely and thoughtful responses to Advisors seeking advice with respect to equity securities
  • Manage analytical reports and tools for the team and for those made available to Advisors
  • Conduct portfolio reviews for clients of Advisors upon request
  • Take meeting notes for Investment Committee portfolio meetings
  • Conduct investment research on companies, sectors, and the broader economy
  • Process a wide array of research, news, reports, investment publications and company/analyst meetings to form independent investment opinions with risk considerations

  • The expected salary range for this particular position is $55,000-$95,000, depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs.
