Role Mission: As an Associate Drafter for Rhodes, you are responsible for creating preliminary plans, design plans, and full construction sets. Your attention to detail and commitment to accuracy ensure compliance and a smooth transition from concept to construction. Reporting to the Plans and Starts Manager and as part of the Operations Team, you produce high-quality, precise work that streamlines processes, reduces errors, and supports the successful development of engaging and accessible communities.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (AA, AS, AAS) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
  • Equivalent combination of above education and experience
  • Two years’ experience in architectural drafting & design and construction process

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in CAD software, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates clear interdepartmental communication
  • Responds to interdepartmental questions in a timely manner
  • Communicate and review any plan changes, revisions, issues, or other plan-related topics to Management
  • Interacts and communicates clearly with coworkers in a courteous, friendly manner
  • Works cooperatively with Sales and Production to address and resolve issues
  • Strong active listening skills
  • Updates Pre-Construction schedules and completes activities in a timely manner
  • Complete & file away all necessary documents with standard formatting
  • Timely completion of all lot specific plans (PPR, Design Selection, & Pre-Construction) are done per schedule
  • Notifies Management and appropriate teams of discrepancies in Pre-Construction schedules and documents
  • Prepares weekly Check-In reports with detail feedback and review of past, current, & next week’s plans with Plans & Starts Manager
  • Attend Plans & Starts team Daily Huddle & Tactical Meetings
  • Assist with permit process, applications & follow-up, when assigned by Plans & Starts Manager
  • Ensure all permitting documents are downloaded and filed into lot-specific folders, in a timely manner while using the standardized labeling format, such as plans from Engineers and MEP trade partners
  • Upload all required documents into the MarkSystems ITK portal
  • Prepare lot specific plans, per schedule, that accurately reflect all customer selections & internal standards for PPR, Design Selections, & Pre-Construction, with focus on SPECs and entry-level home
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of applicable building codes
  • Update fencing plats as needed to reflect current projects
  • Draft specific plan details as assigned by Plans & Starts Manager
  • Complete lot fits as assigned by Plans & Starts Manager
  • Participate in new base plan rollouts, ensuring accuracy, consistency, & adherence to Esperanza Homes plan criteria
  • Assist with any updated plan as assigned by Plans & Starts Manager
  • Assist with drafting or updating options blocks, as assigned by Plans & Starts Manager
  • Work on any assigned training to strengthen CAD skills as assigned by Plans & Starts Manager
  • Maintain a professional, friendly, and approachable demeanor as a representative of Esperanza Homes
  • Demonstrate strong product knowledge, including floor plans, included features, & Esperanza Homes standards
  • Approach unexpected challenges with calm confidence and a problem-solving mindset with consistent manager communication
  • Take initiative, apply feedback, and continuously grow in design knowledge and operational expertise
