The Associate Planner position at Teton County is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about community development and planning. This role is integral to the Current Planning team, which is dedicated to implementing the Jackson/Teton County Comprehensive Plan. The primary focus of this position is to protect the unique characteristics of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem while facilitating responsible development. As an Associate Planner, you will engage in a variety of tasks including reviewing new development applications, variances, conditional use permits, subdivisions, rezoning, and text amendments. This position not only allows you to contribute to the community but also offers the chance to experience the natural beauty of the area, including sightings of deer, moose, elk, and possibly even grizzly bears. In this role, you will perform technical work for the Planning and Building Services Department, ensuring that all planning and development applications comply with the County Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Regulations. You will serve as the initial point of contact for customer service, addressing inquiries related to land development and regulatory matters. Your responsibilities will include preparing staff reports, providing technical recommendations during public hearings, and utilizing the County's Geographic Information System (GIS) to analyze land use trends. Additionally, you will research policy issues and present text amendments to the Planning Commission and the Board of County Commissioners. The Associate Planner will also play a crucial role in fostering positive relationships between Teton County staff and the public, demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior in all interactions. This position requires a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and performing other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the Planning and Building Services Department.
