Optum is seeking an Associate Patient Care Coordinator to join our growing team. At Optum, we are transforming healthcare nationally while providing physician-led care locally. Schedule: A 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, 7:30AM- 5:30PM May be asked to float to other locations for coverage, as needed. The schedule will be determined upon hire. Location: Onsite - 674 W Liberty St, Sumter, SC 29150 Primary Responsibilities: Greet and check in patients Verifies patient demographics and insurance information Collects outstanding balances, co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurances Checks patients out and schedules future appointments Performs general clerical duties Meets the communication needs of the patient/ family, practice providers, and practice staff Participate in performance improvement activities Greet patients in a professional and courteous manner Directs patients to appropriate areas Check-in' all patients, gives patient medical forms to complete and update if needed Collecting payments, printing receipts, and posting payments Scanning and filing patients’ information if needed Reconciles cash drawer daily and send deposits to Department manager Retrieve and sort mail into appropriate boxes Sorts and documents any returned mail Maintains a good working relationship with practice staff members Performs all other duties assigned Meets dress code standards: appearance is neat and clean Completes annual/ monthly education requirements Reports to work on time and as scheduled Completes work in a timely manner Attend staff meetings Ensures patient confidentiality Complies with all practice policies and procedures. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 1+ years of customer service or healthcare related experience
  • 1+ years of computer proficiency experience in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years of experience working in medical office position performing duties such as scheduling appointments, checking patients in/out, insurance verification, collecting co-pays, and maintaining medical records
  • Knowledge EMR (ECW)
  • Knowledge of insurance carriers and managed care plans
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to work independently and as a team, and maintain good judgment and accountability
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with health care providers
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks to meet all deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Greet and check in patients
  • Verifies patient demographics and insurance information
