About The Position

The Associate Patient Care Coordinator at Optum is responsible for providing excellent customer service and supporting the care team in delivering quality healthcare. This role involves managing patient check-ins, verifying insurance, scheduling appointments, and ensuring compliance with medical guidelines. The position requires effective communication and teamwork to meet the organization's financial, clinical, and service goals.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher).
  • 1+ years of customer service or healthcare-related experience.
  • Intermediate level of computer proficiency (multi-task through multiple applications including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with an electronic health record (EPIC).
  • Knowledge of medical terms.
  • 1+ years of experience working in a medical front office position performing duties such as scheduling appointments, checking patients in/out, insurance verification, collecting co-pays, and maintaining medical records.
  • Bilingual in English & Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and conduct check-in process.
  • Obtain accurate and updated patient information, such as name, address, and insurance information.
  • Perform insurance verification on the date of service.
  • Obtain patient signatures for required documents.
  • Confirm and schedule appointments.
  • Follow the Cash Security policy and procedures according to Optum Medical guidelines.
  • Perform referral documentation promptly.
  • Provide follow-up services for patients, such as scheduling specialist appointments.
  • Adhere to the standards identified via Sparq regarding Optum Employee Policies.
  • Work cohesively with fellow employees to achieve specific team goals.
  • Assure continuity of care through scheduling and tracking systems.
  • Provide effective communication to patient/family team members and other healthcare professionals.
  • Comply with administrative policies to ensure quality of care.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and abide by all HIPAA and OSHA requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
