About The Position

The position involves performing a variety of routine paralegal and legal administrative duties to support assigned attorneys. This includes legal case preparation, file management, and assisting with legal research and document drafting. The role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of legal processes and requires a solid understanding of legal concepts and terminology.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or its equivalent required.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience as a paralegal or related work experience; or a Bachelor's degree; or a Paralegal Certification from an ABA-Certified program required.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Paralegal or litigation/claim experience preferred.
  • Insurance related experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of Medical Terminology.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and PDF Software.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills for communication with court personnel, attorneys, clients, and vendors.
  • Advanced grammar and writing skills.
  • Basic knowledge of general law office procedures and local court rules.
  • Highly proficient with case management systems and software applications.
  • Ability to learn proprietary software systems.
  • Ability to identify urgency and prioritize tasks accordingly.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Basic research and analytical skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Paralegal Certification from an ABA-Certified program.

Responsibilities

  • Compiles and drafts legal documents for attorney review.
  • Prepares initial pleadings and filings.
  • Prepares exhibits and demonstrative evidence.
  • Coordinates requests between multiple parties involved in litigation.
  • Subpoenas records and conducts preliminary legal research as necessary.
  • Assists attorney in trial as needed.
  • Captures and records billable time according to policies and procedures.
  • Reviews incoming mail to determine urgency and drafts correspondence accordingly.
  • Acts as a liaison with experts and witnesses for scheduling appearances and depositions.
  • Schedules and coordinates depositions, medical examinations, and court hearings.
  • Retains court reporters and interpreters as necessary.
  • Maintains attorney calendar and diary for important dates.
  • Inputs and maintains information in the case management system.
  • Assists with projects as requested.
