The College of Arts and Sciences at Utah State University invites external applications for an associate or full professor of professional practice beginning on August 1, 2026. Successful applicants will demonstrate excellence in teaching (70%), and effectiveness in research (20%) and service (10%) through engagement in the fields of conflict transformation and peacebuilding. Competitive candidates will either have a terminal degree (e.g., PhD, JD or MFA) with ten years of professional experience or a master’s degree with more than ten years of professional experience. This position is open with respect to disciplinary field and substantive focus, but conflict management skills are most desired, including mediation, facilitation, negotiation, and international diplomacy. Desired subject matter expertise includes conflict in the domains of the economy, environment, interpersonal relations, public health, and intergroup relations (e.g., interfaith conflict, violent conflict, conflict processes, etc.). This is a renewable academic year, nine-month position with the opportunity for summer employment, dependent on the availability of funds. The candidate will have an appointment within an academic department in the College of Arts and Sciences but will spend two-thirds effort toward the Heravi Peace Institute.
