Requirements

  • Master's degree in related field
  • Demonstrated experience typically obtained in 2+ years in nursing clinical experience post-training
  • Experience nursing in an ambulatory healthcare setting
  • Ability to provide ambulatory nursing care to college students
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
  • VA RN license or valid Multi-state license at time of hire
  • Healthcare BLS certification required, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire

  • Nursing experience typically obtained in 1 year in an ambulatory healthcare setting in a college health setting

Responsibilities

  • Provides supervision and leadership to the nursing team and clinical oversight to the immunization compliance process
  • Develops policies, procedures, and practice guidelines encompassing evidence-based care for core nursing skills, case management, and nurse triage
  • Develops and maintains the nursing section of the AAAHC accreditation manual for SHS accreditation
  • Provides oversight to clinical operations at all SHS clinics
  • Maintains an in-person presence in the Fairfax clinic to oversee clinical flow, service recovery, and patient experience
  • Works closely with key members of SHS operations team to ensure adequate staffing to volume ratios and exceptional clinical care and safety
  • Provides clinical care for students as needed to support staffing
  • Serves with Exec Director and other Associate Directors on the SHS Leadership team developing and implementing SHS goals
  • Provides leadership to SHS when Exec. director and Associate Medical Director are unavailable
  • Supports procedures that expedite immunization compliance verification
  • Supports workflows that encourage timely immunization compliance verification and excellent student experience
  • Coordinates clinical education for the nursing team, medical assistants, and immunization team
  • Leads weekly clinical team meetings
  • Participates in University-wide and UL events representing SHS
  • Coordinates the clinical preceptorship program between SHS and George Mason Nursing School
