About The Position

The Associate Nurse Manager, Inpatient plans, oversees, and directs patient care assuring standards of quality, service and safety are met within the philosophy and objectives of the University of Miami Hospitals and Clinics. Acts as the day-to-day ANM and directly supervises the healthcare team to ensure safe and effective clinical operations and/or outcomes. The ANM assists management with strategic operations of the unit, conducting staff meetings, and all other responsibilities. With management's oversight the ANM leads and/or provides input and completes performance improvement processes.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, Bachelor's degree (BSN).
  • Valid Florida Registered Nurse License.
  • ACLS and BLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes, organizes, and prioritizes work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Oversees daily operations of the nursing unit and personnel.
  • Provides direct patient care as needed per entity standard.
  • Assumes 24/7 responsibility, when needed.
  • Collaborates with the Nurse Leaders in formulating and implementing short- and long-term goals that align with organizational priorities.
  • Consistently monitors and oversees expectations of nursing care and nursing documentation.
  • Reports issues or concerns appropriately and timely.
  • Keeps leader informed of unusual patient or staff occurrences.
  • Assists in developing roles and responsibilities of all direct reports.
  • Works with leaders to identify, develop & retain high potential employees.
  • Encourages nursing staff to advance through the Professional Development program.
  • Monitors productivity and flexes appropriately to meet or exceed financial targets.
  • Works to improve employee engagement through collaboration.
  • Participates in and initiates the corrective action process when necessary.
  • Demonstrates active support of the hospital Process Improvement (PI) philosophies.
  • Works closely with Direct or Indirect leaders in developing quality improvement/PI processes.
  • Implements Evidence-Based Best Practices.
  • Consistently rounds on patients and monitors bedside handoff.
  • Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit.
