About The Position

The Associate Nurse Manager reports directly to the Nurse Manager and oversees daily operations of assigned shift ensuring proper care is provided to all patients. The Associate Nurse Manager is accountable to ensure high quality, safe and appropriate nursing care, competency of clinical and support staff, and appropriate resource and service management related to patient care on assigned shift. The Associate Nurse Manager must also ensure services and care are provided abiding by the policies and procedures of the organization, demonstrate fiscal responsibility and accountability. The Associate Nurse Manager plays a crucial role in assisting the Nurse Manager with strategic operations of the unit, conducting staff meetings, and all other responsibilities. The Associate Nurse Manager is knowledgeable of hospital policies and procedures, regulatory requirements and patient care standards.

Requirements

  • Generally requires 3 to 5 years of related experience.
  • Management experience is strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required.
  • Valid Florida RN license is required.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with the Nurse Manager and nursing leadership team to support the mission, vision, values and strategic initiatives of Jackson Health System.
  • Improves employee engagement through collaboration and accountability.
  • Conducts one-on-one meetings with staff and acknowledges team members for great performance.
  • Leads structured active and motivating huddles before shifts.
  • Participates in LEAN/Process improvement workgroups.
  • Contributes to staff retention by providing supportive and mentoring relationships.
  • Responsible for growth and development of employees and daily operation of assigned shift.
  • Participates in corrective action processes when necessary.
  • Uses and role models the nursing process to provide and coordinate high standards of care.
  • Anticipates, identifies, prioritizes, and reports significant patient findings.
  • Rounds on patients and monitors bedside handoff.
  • Collaborates with the Nurse Manager and Director on short and long term goals.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with all providers.
  • Evaluates performance of direct reports focusing on results and developmental needs.
  • Participates in budgetary planning and monitors monthly budget.
  • Completes monthly schedules to ensure adequate staffing.
  • Serves as a resource to prepare and maintain the unit for regulatory agency requirements.
