About The Position

Blizzard Video is the in-house creative team within the Story & Franchise Development team, producing videos. Our goal is to connect with, inform, and activate the worldwide Blizzard community through epic video content. We are excited to welcome a skilled Associate Motion Graphics Designer to our team. Our ideal candidate is a skilled motion designer with practical experience and a portfolio that demonstrates a strong grasp of fundamental motion design principles. Their motion graphics reel should showcase proficiency in foundational animation skills, including timing, composition, and camera work. This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The home studio for this role is Irvine, CA. This is a 12-month temporary position.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional motion graphics experience in a film, animation, television, or video game cinematics environment
  • Proficiency in Adobe After Effects, as well as other Adobe Creative Suite software
  • Knowledge of current industry-standard post-production workflows and organization
  • Able to troubleshoot and solve problems independently
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies and different work methodologies
  • Ability to work closely with directors, producers, editors, and other team members under tight deadlines and with quick project turnover
  • Proactive self-starter, capable of troubleshooting and solving problems independently
  • Able to work well under tight deadlines and quick project turnover

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of professional 3D packages (Cinema 4D preferred)
  • Familiarity with Localization processes and associated workflows
  • Familiarity with Blizzard’s game worlds and the stories told within them

Responsibilities

  • Your primary responsibility will be animating motion comics and other key art across all our franchises.
  • You’ll manage multiple assets and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of current post-production industry-standard workflows and archival organization practices.
  • Must be highly organized and efficient, with strong time management skills.
  • You’ll organize and optimize AE comps to streamline render times.
  • Must be able to work with varying degrees of supervision.
  • Take ownership when needed while remaining flexible to collaboration and feedback, working with your directors, producers, and fellow motion graphic artists.
  • In addition to your core responsibilities, you’ll assist other designers on various Blizzard Video projects, including motion graphics packages, title cards, and lower thirds.
