About The Position

The position reports to the Chief Medical Officer and is exempt from overtime. The role involves leading clinical operations and quality improvement initiatives within a healthcare organization, with a strong emphasis on serving underserved populations and promoting health equity.

Requirements

  • Maintenance of unrestricted Massachusetts medical license.
  • Completion of the M.D./D.O. degree.
  • Completion of three years post-graduate residency training in an accredited Internal Medicine/Family Medicine residency program.
  • Board eligibility in Internal Medicine/Family Medicine.
  • Maintenance of current DEA and Massachusetts Controlled Substances registrations.
  • Qualification for associate medical staff privileges at Baystate Medical Center and Mercy Medical Center, and maintenance of such privileges during job tenure.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and skills, including the ability to lead meetings, motivate teams, and manage projects.
  • Strong understanding of quality improvement methodologies and experience in implementing quality improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to serving underserved populations and promoting health equity.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a leadership role within a healthcare organization
  • Fluency in Spanish, Russian, Arabic, or Vietnamese
  • Special expertise in provision of health care to underserved, culturally diverse populations

Responsibilities

  • Leads and facilitates meetings related to clinical operations, quality improvement, and other relevant areas.
  • Collaborates with the CMO and other leadership team members on strategic planning, program development, and implementation.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to clinical practice.
  • Assists in the recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluation of medical staff.
  • Represents the medical staff at meetings and conferences as needed.
  • Provides clinical supervision and mentorship to physicians, physician associates, nurse practitioners, and other clinical staff.
  • Oversees and monitors the quality of patient care, ensuring compliance with established standards and best practices.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives, including data analysis, performance monitoring, and implementation of corrective actions.
  • In collaboration with CMO and other clinical leaders, facilitates quarterly chart reviews for all providers.
  • Addresses patient complaints and concerns related to medical care.
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant regulations and accreditation requirements.
  • Maintains a clinical practice (e.g., percentage of time or patient volume) as agreed upon with the CMO, providing direct patient care.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the CMO.
