The Associate Mechanical Engineer will support new product development and product sustaining tasks for the company's Global Rack Power Distribution products. This role involves using mechanical CAD software to transform product specifications into manufacturable products and releasing designs into the engineering Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.

  • Create drawings and bills of material for sheet metal and purchased parts.
  • Create 3D mechanical models using sheet metal and part modeling functionality of 3D mechanical CAD software.
  • Generate complex assembly drawings and product submittal drawings.
  • Work with manufacturing engineers and production associates to build prototypes and provide direction when needed.
  • Write, submit, and release engineering changes in the PLM system.
  • 1 - 3+ years of experience in design and product development
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience with 3D CAD Design (Creo, SolidEdge, or similar programs)
  • Experience with Sheet Metal specifically for Cabinets, frame design, enclosures, or power units (NOT AUTOMOTIVE)
  • Experience with Bill of Materials (drawing of BOM preferred)
  • General knowledge of 3-phase Power, Rack PDUs, or Power Transformers
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics and familiarity with electrical components
  • Experience with PLM data-entry and BOM creation, e.g., Oracle, Agile EC
  • Ability to interpret safety agency standards, e.g., UL and IEC, towards creating a safe product design.
