About The Position

Nortek Air Solutions is seeking a talented and creative entry level Research and Development Mechanical Engineer who thrives on innovation and efficiency to join the Innovation Team at our Oklahoma facilities. As a member of the Innovation team, you will be an integral member of a multi-disciplinary, cross-functional team dedicated to bringing pioneering technologies to market through research, development, prototyping, and testing centered within our nationally recognized laboratories. With a focus on acoustics, vibrations, aerodynamics, energy efficiency, controls, electronics, thermal design, and mechanical systems, the team works not only with other Nortek facilities and employees but also with a wide range of customers, suppliers, distributors, and strategic partners. The successful candidate will help cultivate innovation by taking an active role in modeling, prototyping, evaluating, testing, and collaborating with others to explore and demonstrate solutions and concepts critical to the future of our business.

Requirements

  • ABET recognized Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Up to five years of engineering experience
  • Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Inventor, Fusion360, MATLAB, Mathcad, Microsoft Office, Excel VBA, and Power Automate/Apps
  • Ability to handle confidential R&D projects appropriately

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams exploring new ideas and approaches to enhance product performance and develop new innovative technologies
  • Gaining technical expertise and knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes to optimize product design for efficiency and cost-effectiveness
  • Assisting with design simulations, prototyping, testing, analyses, and team reviews to ensure designs meet technical, performance, and quality standards
  • Assisting with industry specific regulatory requirements and certifications
  • Learning about industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices to drive continuous improvement in product design and development processes
  • Working knowledge in the areas of thermodynamics, structural analysis, dynamics, heat transfer, and FEA
  • Occasional travel may be required within North America (up to 1 or 2 times per year)
