Requirements

  • Associate Materials Specialist: 0-2 years of basic knowledge of materials management, procurement processes, and inventory control experience.
  • Basic knowledge of client groups, commodities, and specialties.
  • Basic knowledge of environmental, government, legal, and regulatory requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of nuclear plant equipment and materials.
  • Basic knowledge of inventory analysis techniques.
  • Basic knowledge of warehouse layout.
  • Working knowledge of supplier relations, priority management, and tactical planning.
  • Good oral, written, and presentation skills.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Basic forecasting and trend analysis skills.
  • Computer skills.
  • Value and cost analysis skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to process information quickly and accurately.
  • Customer service orientation.
  • Materials Specialist: 2-3 years related work experience in addition to the above experience.
  • Knowledge of materials management, procurement processes, and inventory control.
  • Knowledge of environmental, government, legal, and regulatory requirements.
  • Senior Materials Specialist: 5+ years related work experience in addition to the above experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of materials management, procurement processes, and inventory control.
  • Working knowledge of material contract law.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical, forecasting, trend analysis, and value and cost analysis skills.
  • Strong computer skills, with emphasis on Supply Chain, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Experience with SAP, preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration or Marketing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and processes material and service requests and documentation, to ensure correct purchases and timely deliveries.
  • Evaluates material return report for request cancellations.
  • Assists in resolving supply chain issues.
  • Assists in developing a supplier and service network, to ensure supply sources through accumulation of product and service data.
  • Conducts pre-bid, pre-award, and post-award meetings with suppliers and customer groups.
  • Analyzes inventory and surplus or obsolete materials and takes action to minimize stocking levels.
  • Maintains standards database and other systems to track inventory.
  • Prepares management reports.
  • Assists in providing materials management support for delivery operations.
  • Evaluates and processes material requisitions and reservations, to ensure material and required documentation are available when needed.
  • Analyzes material usage patterns for planned and stocked items, to ensure cost effective and adequate materials are available in a timely manner.
  • Assists in planning and implementation of sourcing initiatives.
  • Develops supplier and service network.
  • Provides inventory management support to electric and gas delivery operations.
  • Develops and maintains material master.
  • Utilizes Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system to optimize supply chain management.
  • Leads implementation of sourcing initiatives.
  • Prepares and monitors inventory forecasts.
  • Tracks and identifies material and vendor stocking requirements.
  • Analyzes inventory methods of control, reduction, classification, usage, and other development techniques.
