About The Position

#TeamAAM is looking for an Associate Manufacturing Engineer to join our Metal Forming team in Chicago, IL. This is a fully onsite position on the 1st shift. The Associate Manufacturing Engineer supports the engineering ownership of forged automotive components and associated manufacturing processes under the guidance of senior engineers. This person implements and supports manufacturing techniques, processes, tooling, equipment, automation, environmental, health, and safety (EHS) practices, and cost containment initiatives to maximize throughput, ensure manufacturing readiness, and maintain product acceptance. This role is responsible for assisting with control charting of critical features and processes, monitoring results, and supporting machine and process capability analysis. The associate engineer works closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Tooling, and Automation, and EHS teams to support safe, efficient, cost-effective, and high-volume automotive forging operations while developing the technical skills required for full product ownership. This position has an estimated pay range of $73,000 to $82,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable Engineering discipline.
  • 0-2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of GD&T, CNC concepts, and CAD software.

Responsibilities

  • Supports engineering ownership of assigned forged automotive components throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Assists in ensuring production-part acceptance and manufacturing readiness.
  • Identifies and resolves issues related to design, manufacturability, tooling, or build sequences.
  • Assists with implementation and optimization of manufacturing techniques, tooling, equipment, and automation.
  • Participates in equipment installations, modifications, and operator training.
  • Assists with control charting, SPC, and capability analysis.
  • Supports CNC programming, validation, and machining fixture design.
  • Works with Fanuc robots and automation equipment.
  • Supports APQP, PPAP, and automotive quality requirements.
  • Assists with root cause analysis and corrective actions related to quality, safety, and environmental issues.
  • Supports compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations and internal EHS procedures.
  • Participates in safety risk assessments, hazard identification, and corrective action implementation.
  • Maintains accurate documentation and protect confidential information.
  • Supports scrap reduction, cycle time improvement, and Lean initiatives.
  • Participates in automation and technology adoption efforts.
  • All other duties as assigned.
