Job Description Associate Manager, Software Development Location(s): New York - Hybrid Get To Know the Team Our Software Development team is responsible for building, enhancing, and maintaining scalable, high-performing applications that support critical business operations and client solutions. As an Associate Manager, you will lead a team of engineers while remaining close to the technology—driving delivery, improving engineering practices, and partnering cross-functionally with Product, QA, and Infrastructure teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of software development experience, with at least 1–2 years in a leadership or mentoring capacity
  • Strong hands-on experience with modern programming languages (e.g., Java, C++, Python, or similar)
  • Experience building and maintaining enterprise-level, scalable applications
  • Strong understanding of system design, architecture, and software engineering principles
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Proven ability to balance technical contributions with people leadership responsibilities
  • Self-starter mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building and scaling technology platforms within the fund of hedge funds or alternative investments space strongly preferred
  • Strong domain expertise in investment systems, risk platforms, data architecture, and workflow automation
  • Professional credentials such as CFA, CAIA, or MBA are highly desirable
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and modern software development practices
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and CI/CD pipelines preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Drive end-to-end delivery of software solutions, ensuring alignment with business priorities and technical roadmaps
  • Partner with Product Management, QA, and other stakeholders to define requirements, scope, and delivery timelines
  • Oversee design, development, testing, and deployment of scalable, high-quality applications
  • Ensure adherence to engineering best practices, including code quality, testing, CI/CD, and documentation
  • Manage team capacity, workload distribution, and performance, including hiring and development of team members
  • Identify and mitigate risks, proactively addressing technical and delivery challenges
  • Contribute to architectural discussions and technical decision-making
  • Drive process improvements to enhance team efficiency, delivery speed, and product quality
