About The Position

Results-driven payroll professional with experience overseeing end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across multi-state or multinational environments. Skilled in supervising payroll staff, resolving complex pay issues, implementing process improvements, and partnering with HR, Finance, Treasury and Accounting to support seamless payroll operations. Known for strong analytical abilities, a high attention to detail, and the ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, deadline‑driven settings. As an Associate Manager, a typical day may include: Support the management of end‑to‑end payroll operations for the U.S. and Canada employee populations, ensuring accurate and timely processing. Assist in monitoring payroll processes and internal controls to ensure full compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Develop, update, and maintain detailed documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for payroll processes, system enhancements, and project initiatives. Train staff on established procedures, system functionality, and process changes, ensuring consistency and knowledge retention across the team. Troubleshoot and resolve day‑to‑day system issues, partnering with internal teams as needed to address employee payroll escalations. Collaborate closely with Finance, Treasury, HR and Accounting to ensure accurate payroll funding, reconciliations, and efficient end‑to‑end processing. Conduct testing for Oracle Time & Labor (OTL), Payroll, and other system enhancements or special projects. Manage month‑end and quarter‑end close activities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and proper documentation. Oversee payroll tax activities, including tax funding, reconciliations, review and analysis of tax notices, W‑2 and W‑2c processing, tax filings, and amendments. Prepare accurate, timely payroll reports for executive leadership and maintain comprehensive records of payroll transactions. Lead, mentor, and support payroll team members, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes knowledge sharing, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, HR, or related field.
  • 6-8+ years of progressive payroll experience, including multi‑state payroll; experience with U.S. and Canadian payroll strongly preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a lead or supervisory role supporting payroll teams.
  • Experience working in a high‑volume, fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Oracle Payroll and Oracle Time & Labor (OTL) or similar enterprise payroll systems.
  • Strong understanding of payroll tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and compliance requirements for the U.S. and Canada.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas, and data analysis.
  • Experience with payroll audit processes, reconciliations, month‑end/quarter‑end close, and tax filings.
  • Ability to interpret system data, perform system testing, and assist in troubleshooting issues.
