About The Position

The Associate Manager, Cleaning is responsible for overseeing and executing a best-in-class cleaning operation across the entire Belmont Park campus, ensuring all guest-facing and operational areas consistently meet or exceed NYRA’s standards for cleanliness, presentation, and safety. This role plays a critical part in delivering a world-class experience at one of North America’s premier racing venues by leading teams, deploying resources strategically, and implementing a proactive cleaning model that anticipates needs before they arise. The Associate Manager will ensure seamless coverage of the main building, grounds, and stable areas during racing, training, and non-racing events, with a strong emphasis on high-end hospitality environments and large-scale event execution.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent Experience
  • 5+ Years or Progressive Experience in Cleaning and/or Building Services

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily cleaning operations across the entire Belmont Park campus, including: Main grandstand and hospitality areas Track apron and public exterior spaces Backstretch and stable areas Administrative and operational offices
  • Ensure comprehensive coverage plans are in place for race days, training days, and non-racing events.
  • Deploy staff strategically based on foot traffic patterns, weather conditions, and event schedules.
  • Assist in inventory control, ordering and requisitions for the department.
  • Direct, train, and supervise cleaning staff to ensure consistent execution of NYRA cleanliness standards.
  • Develop daily and event-based staffing plans to ensure full campus coverage.
  • Conduct pre-shift briefings and post-shift debriefs to reinforce expectations and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Monitor productivity, attendance, and performance; provide coaching and corrective action as needed.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, urgency, and pride in presentation.
  • Implement a proactive, not reactive cleaning model to identify high-risk/high-traffic areas before issues arise.
  • Anticipate weather-driven impacts (mud, rain, heat) and adjust cleaning protocols accordingly.
  • Ensure all public-facing areas consistently meet or exceed high-end hospitality cleanliness expectations.
  • Maintain restrooms, seating areas, premium spaces, and food & beverage zones at best-in-class standards.
  • Respond immediately to guest-facing issues and escalate when necessary.
  • Partner with Guest Services and Hospitality teams to align on service expectations for VIP and marquee events.
  • Enforce all workplace safety standards and proper handling of cleaning materials.
  • Ensure compliance with NYRA policies, NYSGC regulations (as applicable), and environmental standards.
  • Maintain clean, safe conditions in both public and back-of-house areas, including barns and stable zones.
  • Conduct routine and random inspections of all areas of responsibility.
  • Implement and maintain detailed cleaning checklists, zone assignments, and inspection logs.
  • Enforce strict quality control standards with zero tolerance for lapses in high-visibility areas.
  • Track and report cleanliness KPIs, including response times, issue resolution, and inspection scores.
  • Work closely with: Venue & Event Operations (setup and conversions) Facilities & Maintenance (repairs impacting cleanliness) Security (access and incident response) Hospitality & F&B teams (high-touch service areas)
  • Ensure cleaning operations are fully integrated into the broader venue operations plan.
