About The Position

Under the Director of Site-Based Learning & Services oversight and guidance, the Associate Manager, Academic and Faculty Affairs will be responsible for implementing efficiency efforts and providing quality service through process improvement, process standardization, quality assurance, and stakeholder engagement. Partnering with the Sr. Manager, academic leadership team, and other staff functions, this position will identify issues and work to develop and implement team strategies, processes, policies, and practices in the areas of site-based learning operations. The Associate Manager, Academic and Faculty Affairs will work cross-functionally with school and university leadership to implement efforts to ensure greater consistency and efficiency in Capella University’s SBL operations function. They will work on priorities, support continuous improvement, and assign individual responsibilities to manage the day-to-day operational aspects of assigned projects. This position is considered Hybrid and will require to be on site part of the week at the Capella Tower in Minneapolis, MN.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or operations management.
  • Effective interpersonal skills including the ability to work with all levels of management, staff, external vendors, and others.
  • Ability to work across team and departmental boundaries.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, assess, and evaluate process improvement opportunities.
  • Strong project management skills with a history of successful project implementations.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements initiatives that contribute to long-term operational excellence.
  • Coordinates with the Director of SBLS to develop execution plans for an operational activity to support short and long-term organizational goals.
  • Implements and manages operational plans.
  • Monitors, manages, and improves the efficiency of cross-functional operational services.
  • Develops and manages work intake, prioritization, capacity planning, and reporting tools to be used by the team.
  • Works with internal customers and stakeholders across Capella to resolve process problems.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains data collection and reporting processes to provide ongoing service and support to stakeholder groups across Capella.
  • Direct supervision of a team of SBL specialists.
  • Coaches, motivates, and develops team members.
  • Assists team members with the resolution of issues; serves as a resource person to team members and peers.
  • Provides a communication channel for the team and other internal teams/departments.
  • Recommends and implements departmental policies and procedures to maximize output.
  • Serves as a member of appropriate leadership committees and workgroups.
