About The Position

This Associate Maintenance Mechanic position at Sanford Health involves performing light maintenance repair and cleaning tasks under supervision, ensuring a safe and professional approach. The role encompasses a wide range of duties, including addressing various maintenance work orders such as changing light bulbs, painting, hanging signs, replacing ceiling tiles, cleaning boiler screens, and occasional clean-up tasks. A significant part of the role involves executing daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly preventative maintenance (PM's). The mechanic is expected to take extra precautions, especially when working in patient/resident care areas, by keeping tools out of reach of children. Depending on the specific facility size, additional responsibilities may extend to the installation and maintenance of mechanical and stationary systems, including boiler operations, to ensure an efficient and safe environment. The role may also include maintaining campus grounds and performing other outdoor maintenance duties, as well as general maintenance tasks across various trades like electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and bed repair. The position may also require participation in on-call duties as needed or directed by the department.

Requirements

  • Must possess basic mechanical knowledge
  • Show competence in the use of hand tools, meters, measuring devices and gauges
  • Must be able to explain conditions and situations accurately while troubleshooting
  • Ability to work all shifts and hours as scheduled
  • Must comply with all corporate and facility policies and dress code
  • Understand written and verbal communications
  • Works independently with minimal supervision
  • Must have knowledge of federal, state, and local codes, specifications, and ordinances
  • A valid driver's license and a good driving record (depending on location)
  • CPR/BLS upon hire (depending on location)

Nice To Haves

  • A familiarity of blueprints, schematics and technical manuals helpful
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in all types of building maintenance

Responsibilities

  • Work on a variety of maintenance work orders from changing light bulbs, painting, hang signs, replace ceiling tiles, clean boiler screens, occasionally clean up messes
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly PM's
  • Perform light maintenance repair and cleaning tasks completed under supervision in a safe, professional manner
  • Take extra precautions when working in patient/resident care areas and specifically keep tools out of the reach of children
  • Perform installation and maintenance of mechanical and stationary systems, including boiler operations, to ensure a safe and efficient environment (depending on facility size)
