The Associate Maintenance Engineer plays a crucial role in supervising maintenance personnel and directing the modification, improvement, and installation of high-tech equipment in a manufacturing facility. This position is essential for maximizing equipment and facility productivity while minimizing costs. The Associate Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for making departmental decisions regarding maintenance management, developing an understanding of the equipment and manufacturing processes, and training and supervising skilled trades such as mechanics, electricians, and plumbers. In this role, the engineer will offer sound technical and engineering advice for facilities performance improvement, utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), and use CAD to gather information and design custom alterations to equipment. The position also involves selecting vendors for equipment purchases, troubleshooting mechanical processes, and installing and starting up new equipment and processes. The engineer will be expected to develop creative ideas to cut costs, supervise equipment design changes, monitor and control energy use, and research alteration requests while providing justification for them. Additionally, the Associate Maintenance Engineer will negotiate and oversee contract work, authorize and delegate maintenance work-orders, schedule preventive maintenance for equipment, ensure the safety and security of the physical plant and facilities, verify and complete administrative work, and communicate department projects with plant management. This position requires a proactive approach to maintenance and a commitment to continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
