About The Position

The Associate Mental Health Professional position involves providing mental health assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and crisis intervention services for adult and/or child members under the supervision of licensed professionals. The role includes collaboration with primary care providers and psychiatric teams to develop treatment plans, as well as providing outpatient psychotherapy and psychoeducational support to patients and their families.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Social Welfare, Clinical or Counseling Psychology, or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, Associate Professional Clinical Counselor, or Registered Associate Clinical Social Worker license from the State of California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
  • Familiarity with DSM-V for diagnosis.
  • Experience in assessing, diagnosing, and treating a broad range of psychiatric conditions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of social service agencies, state regulations, and professional board standards related to member treatment and confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of Evidence-Based Practice and psychotherapy research methods.
  • Understanding of bio-psycho-social functions contributing to mental health.
  • Competence in individual, family, and/or group psychotherapy.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mental health assessment and triage, diagnosis, treatment, and crisis intervention services for adult and/or child members.
  • Consult with supervisors and psychiatrists regarding members' progress and treatment.
  • Support members' families with treatment explanations and adherence instructions.
  • Utilize resources from public and private agencies to meet treatment needs.
  • Participate in departmental program development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Report safety concerns to mandated reporting agencies.
  • Develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate clinical treatment programs for members with mental illness.
  • Participate in staff conferences to select, plan, and evaluate treatment programs.
  • Provide outpatient psychotherapy to individuals, couples, families, and groups.
  • Instruct and counsel patients and families on compliance with therapeutic regimens and medication adherence.
  • Administer specialized therapeutic procedures as appropriate.
  • Prepare intake summaries, treatment plans, and maintain confidential records.
  • Chart members' treatment and progress according to regulations and standards.
  • Collaborate with physicians in screening and evaluating patients for psychotropic medications.
