About The Position

The Associate, Loan Fund Accounting at Nonprofit Finance Fund (NFF) plays a crucial role in supporting the Finance team by ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of a diverse portfolio of loans receivable. This position involves maintaining the general ledger, recording transactions related to loans, and collaborating with various departments to promote transparency and compliance. The role is fully remote, with a preference for candidates near NFF's offices in New York, Philadelphia, or Boston, and includes potential travel for conferences and meetings.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in loan servicing or accounting at a commercial bank, credit union, or CDFI.
  • Basic understanding of financial and accounting principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret financial data effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain portfolio schedules for all NFF loan portfolios, ensuring they are reliable for reporting.
  • Manage the loans receivable monthly closing process, reconciling general ledger and bank transactions with portfolio schedules.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and account reconciliations related to NFF's loan portfolios.
  • Generate and analyze reports from the loan management system (LMS) on remittances and interest accruals, reconciling with the general ledger.
  • Review cash remittances and maintain loan delinquency journals, collaborating with the Loan Servicing Department to resolve discrepancies.
  • Log loan payments into the LMS and accounting software, ensuring accuracy in daily deposits.
  • Support updates to the loan portfolio forecasting model, projecting future balances and revenue scenarios.
  • Ensure compliance with participation agreements for incoming remittances and disbursement wires.
  • Initiate ACH payment processes for authorized loan transactions in partnership with the Loan Servicing Manager.
  • Research and resolve complex issues related to loan portfolio accounting and servicing.
