Join our dynamic Litigation team at the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts, where you'll play a key role in upholding our mission to "Safeguard the public through licensure, education and discipline of those who practice the healing arts in Kansas." Our agency licenses 16 different health care professions across Kansas. As an Associate Litigation Counsel, you'll collaborate closely with our Litigation Team and Disciplinary Panel, tackling complex cases with a wide variety of impactful issues affecting the practice of healing arts in Kansas. In this role your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following: Litigating misconduct and standard of care cases on behalf of the Board's Disciplinary Panel in conference and formal hearings, taking each case from the initial pleadings, through discovery and depositions, through final administrative hearings. Preparing and presenting compelling disciplinary cases to the Board's Disciplinary Panel. Crafting agreements, motions, memoranda, and detailed pleadings. Engaging in negotiation to draft agreements, suspensions, or revocations, while consulting with the Board's Investigators. Delegation of tasks to legal support staff to complete work product. In this role, you will collaborate with a dedicated and supportive team, while making a meaningful impact on public safety and professional standards.

  • Litigating misconduct and standard of care cases on behalf of the Board's Disciplinary Panel in conference and formal hearings, taking each case from the initial pleadings, through discovery and depositions, through final administrative hearings.
  • Preparing and presenting compelling disciplinary cases to the Board's Disciplinary Panel.
  • Crafting agreements, motions, memoranda, and detailed pleadings.
  • Engaging in negotiation to draft agreements, suspensions, or revocations, while consulting with the Board's Investigators.
  • Delegation of tasks to legal support staff to complete work product.
  • Law degree from an accredited school and an active Kansas Law License.
  • Experience in independently litigating cases, including administrative, civil, and/or criminal litigation.
  • Experience in health care law and/or experience as a medical provider.
