From prenatal screening before birth to newborn screening shortly after birth and whole genome sequencing through one’s lifetime. Our goal is to provide valuable and insightful information about potential underlying genetic conditions, guiding patients and providers to improved health outcomes. We are seeking an Associate Lab Technologist at our Pittsburgh state-of-the-art omics laboratory to perform clinical laboratory tests, procedures, and analyses that contribute to the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease in newborns. Schedule is dayshift Tuesday to Saturday.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a life or physical science such as chemistry, biology, or medical technology.
  • A minimum of 6 months to one year of clinical laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare specimens for analysis and organizes tests to be performed.
  • Prepare and properly labels reagents required for laboratory testing.
  • Conduct analysis of dried blood spots or body fluid to determine presence of normal and abnormal components.
  • Review test results, maintains legible work records, and enters findings into the laboratory information systems.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on instruments and equipment according to established schedule and procedure.
  • Verify proper instrument function by checking and calibrating lab instruments and documents data.
  • Record on instrument log any repairs, replacement and maintenance performed on laboratory instruments.
  • Abide by laboratory safety policies and procedures.
