About The Position

The Associate IT Specialist position at ACES Technology Services involves providing comprehensive end-user workstation, application, and system support for various departments and users within the College of ACES. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of administrative business and academic operations, classrooms, instructional labs, and research computing, including high-performance computing (HPC). The specialist will manage file and print shares, wired networks, and ACES-specific software and licensing, ensuring that all technological needs are met effectively. In this role, the Associate IT Specialist will deliver exceptional customer service by responding to requests in a timely, polite, and professional manner, whether in person, over the phone, or via email. They will monitor the request tracking system for new requests, update it regularly, and assist in assigning requests to the appropriate individuals. Working collaboratively with a team of IT professionals, the specialist will support instructional, research, or administrative customers, assisting faculty and research staff with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of software and computers used in research capacities. The position also involves system and network support, where the specialist will assist in the full life cycle of IT systems and products, including purchasing, installation, tracking, and disposal. They will analyze functional and performance issues related to technology use, consult with customers on software applications, and provide assistance with network connectivity, managing local building networks, DNS, and DHCP for departmental networks. Organizational support is another key aspect of this role, requiring interaction with various teams within ACES Technology Services to ensure outstanding service delivery. The specialist may supervise student or hourly employees, maintain awareness of centrally provided services, and serve on cross-functional teams. Additionally, they will assist on projects at the organizational, divisional, or team level as needed.
