The position involves following established procedures and guidelines to receive, handle, store, record, and dispatch goods in a store or warehouse. Responsibilities include receiving incoming goods, checking for damage and discrepancies between goods and invoices, accurately sorting, labeling, and storing goods, and arranging storage to optimize warehouse space. The role also requires picking, packing, and dispatching outgoing goods according to written or verbal requests or orders. Data entry into a database or other computerized system is necessary to maintain up-to-date stock records and retrieve stored information to respond to inquiries regarding inventory levels or delivery schedules. Additional routine clerical activities may include answering telephones, updating stock cards and inventory records, and completing receipt, transfer, delivery, and dispatch forms.
