About The Position

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Dickson is accepting applications for the full-time position of Associate Instructor in the Evening Barbering Program at our Clarksville Campus. This is a grant-funded position. The Evening Barbering Associate Instructor is responsible for providing individualized theory and hands-on instruction to prepare students for employment as Barbers. This position must also maintain good public relations with business and industry, maintain an active advisory committee and cooperate with outside agencies. This is not a remote position; all instruction is delivered in-person.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current, active Tennessee Barbering Instructor license
  • Minimum of three years of full-time Barbering experience
  • Must possess a high degree of knowledge in all areas of the instructional field
  • Must commit to remain licensed and maintain program accreditation(s)
  • Must possess the organization and communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher and interact with all students
  • Must show evidence of good character, organizational skills, and mature attitude
  • Must be willing to remain current in the Barbering profession
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees
  • Computer skills required

Nice To Haves

  • Technical diploma from accredited Barbering program preferred
  • Teaching, training or management experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Providing individualized theory and hands-on instruction to prepare students for employment as Barbers
  • Develop, plan, and prepare a complete and progressive course of study including lesson plans, assignments, and instructional aides
  • Monitor, grade and evaluate individual student progress
  • Enter and maintain student records on a regular basis in the college’s student records management system
  • Assist with recruitment, placement, and follow-up of students
  • Maintain good public relations with business and industry
  • Maintain an active advisory committee
  • Cooperate with outside agencies
  • Other duties as assigned
