About The Position

The position involves assisting professional staff members by performing a variety of tasks related to the operation of classrooms or other instructional areas. The individual will work under the direction of the supervising teacher and is expected to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with teachers, support staff, and school administrators.

Requirements

• Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with teachers, support staff, and school administrators.
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI)/restraint certification.
• First aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training course completed at first available offering by District.
• High school diploma preferred or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Instructs students under the direction of the supervising teacher.
• Assists the teacher with planned activities and instructional programs.
• Assists in preparing instructional materials for daily instruction as planned by the teacher.
• Sets up and operates audiovisual equipment.
• Types educational materials and operates copy machines and computers.
• Maintains individual student records.
• Supervises students at arrival and dismissal, in the classroom, lunchroom, and on the playground under the supervision of a district certified staff member.
• Presents subject matter to students utilizing a variety of methods and techniques under the supervision of the teacher.
• Assists specific students with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts in accordance with the student's individualized education program.
• Assists students with self-care activities related to eating, dressing, toileting, grooming, as needed.
• Performs other job duties as assigned.
