About The Position

The SOC Associate Information Security Engineer supports users in security matters and conducts moderately complex technical analysis. The SOC Associate follows procedures to contain, analyze, and eliminate malicious activity, working closely with other OIS units to meet objectives. The Associate also helps develop and maintain SOC documentation. The Information Security Associate Engineer is results oriented, multi-disciplined, and comfortable in implementing system security solution in multi-vendor environments and is responsible for the research, configuration, and administration of systems and procedures to ensure the protection of information being processed, stored, and transmitted in Mayo Clinic’s computing environments. The incumbent will provide basic security design assistance and consultation for various projects and initiatives. The Information Security Associate Engineer will receive direct supervision and guidance from Information Security Directors and other Information Security Engineers. This is a full time, hybrid position. Work will primarily be done remotely but at times may require incumbent to be on campus. Therefore, incumbent must live within a reasonable driving distance of a Mayo Clinic campus. Mayo Clinic will not sponsor or transfer visas for this position including F1 OPT STEM.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or Associates degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related major, OR High School diploma and three (3) years' experience in the information security field.
  • Basic experience with security analysis and penetration studies for client/server-based systems and networks.
  • Basic understanding of security controls for network, application and operating systems and work experience with logical access controls to ensure confidentiality.
  • Basic knowledge of TCP/IP networking.
  • Evidence of strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively in a team environment as a participant.
  • Capacity to work independently and willingness to seek advice/assistance.
  • Completion of Office of Information Security Training curriculum within one year.
