About The Position

As an Associate Incident & Threat Analyst (SOC Analyst) at Discover, you will analyze security events to identify threats to the environment. You will contribute to incident monitoring, handling, and response activities, performing thorough analysis and problem-solving to improve cyber defense technology, processes, and procedures. Your role will involve actively managing and escalating risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day operations to management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, Data Analytics, or related fields.

Nice To Haves

• GIAC Security+ certification.
• Network+ certification.

Responsibilities

• Monitors aggregated security events to detect malicious activity.
• Ensures proper handling of security incidents for containment and remediation.
• Performs detailed analysis of security incidents to the fullest extent of the data available.
• Evaluates external threats and zero-day vulnerabilities for applicability to the environment.
• Performs in-depth analysis of security issues or vulnerabilities.
• Proposes tunes for rules, filters, and policies to improve detection accuracy and visibility.
• Reviews documentation of runbooks, alert logic, policies, and procedures.
• Produces actionable intelligence in the form of reports, cases, notifications, and briefings.
• Recognizes security violations and reports incidents as required.
