About The Position

The Associate I position is designed to assist CRELD Loan Officers in structuring, underwriting, and servicing medium to large real estate loans. The role emphasizes the development of external relationships and the management of customer interactions, with a clear career path towards becoming a CRELD officer. The Associate will progressively handle more complex loans and support the lending team in generating new commercial mortgage and construction loans while ensuring compliance with the Bank's quality targets and lending policies.

Requirements

• High School Diploma required; Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance preferred or equivalent experience.
• 1+ years of experience in commercial business or mortgage lending/underwriting preferred.
• 1+ year of banking experience required.
• Ability to perform light physical work and lift items up to 20 pounds.
• Proficient in using standard office equipment and applications.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in commercial mortgage underwriting/structuring is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the Team Leader and Loan Officer in reviewing new loan requests from existing and prospective borrowers.
• Assist Loan Officers in generating new commercial mortgages and construction loans to meet production goals.
• Review and analyze borrowers' financial information and prepare necessary documentation.
• Recommend appropriate loan structures to meet customer and Bank needs.
• Accompany Loan Officers on customer calls to develop negotiation and business development skills.
• Prepare Credit Approval Memorandums detailing loan request presentations and underwriting decisions.
• Manage loan documentation processes including commitment letters and document signing.
• Review construction loan draws and inspection reports for approval.
• Participate in Bank-sponsored community events.
• Manage Loan Officer responsibilities in their absence.
• Assist with portfolio management to maintain a high-quality loan portfolio and minimize exceptions.
• Proactively manage customer relationships to meet loan runoff projections and deposit goals.
• Prepare various reports and memorandums for loan portfolio management and compliance.
• Monitor loan delinquencies and maturing loans, taking appropriate actions as needed.
• Provide updates for monthly loan portfolio review reports.
