About The Position

This position involves preparing sections of tissue specimens for routine and special examinations. The Associate Histology Technician performs histological procedures to embed, stain, and mount samples using routine and special techniques to create tissue slides for diagnosis. Responsibilities also include examining specimen slides, entering and tracking result information, generating result reports, and maintaining and repairing lab instruments. The role requires sterilizing the work area, stocking supplies, and ensuring all lab safety, quality control, and quality assurance standards are met. The technician will work with self-discipline and good judgment, adhering to established standards of practice, and will be responsible for performing routine duties across all areas of the Histology Laboratory. Interaction with clients of all ages may be required, and the technician is expected to recognize and respect the responsibilities of other laboratory and health care personnel. Continuous learning by keeping abreast of new departmental procedures and changes in general hospital policy is also expected.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in Laboratory or Biological Sciences required.
