This position would provide support to the Mohs surgeon and the Histology Technologist in the lab. Potential of working 10-12 hours per week.

Requirements

• Associates degree in Laboratory or Biological Sciences required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares sections of tissue specimens for routine and special examinations.
• Performs histological procedures to embed, stain, and mount samples using routine and special techniques to make tissue slides used for diagnosis.
• Examines specimen slides; enters and tracks result information and generates result reports.
• Maintains and repairs lab instruments.
• Sterilizes work area and stocks supplies.
• Ensures all lab safety, quality control and quality assurance standards are met.
• Works with self-discipline and good judgment while following established standards of practice.
• Performs routine duties in all areas of the Histology Laboratory.
• Interacts with all ages of client population.
• Recognizes responsibilities of other laboratory and health care personnel and interacts with respect for their jobs and patient care.
• Keeps abreast of new procedures in the department as well as changes in general hospital policy and procedures.
